The Wedding
Rachel and Aaron
Sale Town Hall, near Manchester
19 August 2021
Today we were off to Manchester for the wedding of Rachel and Arron at Sale Town Hall. As the wedding wasn’t until 3.30pm this wasnt too early a start from our home in the Cotswolds. We also found time to stop in Stafford en route for a coffee.
Even with a stop en route, we still made it to Manchester a good 2 hours ahead of the wedding and so wandered to the Trafford Centre for a spot of lunch in John Lewis. Whilst neither of us are a great fan of busy shopping centres, it actually wasnt too bad and had the added benefit of being indoors when outside the rain was starting to come down quite heavily.
The wedding
Fortunately the clouds cleared in time for Rachel’s arrival and we had duly set up ready in ‘Committee Room One’ where the marriage ceremony was to take place.
Rachel walked in to the sound of ‘Stand by Me’ which we had specially arranged for Cello and Piano. As the bridal walk wasn’t very far we snuck in a few extra bars once she had arrived!
Signing of the Register
Nowadays the signing part of the ceremony doesn’t take that long, but there will always be witnesses who need to sign and then photographs which need to be taken. We always recommend choosing a couple of songs for this part of the ceremony – sometimes, like on this occasion, we get to play all of both songs. Other occasions we only get half way through the first song choice. Ultimately it comes down to how long the photographs take more than anything!
Rachel had chosen ‘Im Gonna Be (500 miles) and A Thousand Years. These are both great songs and the first one we hadn’t played for a while so it was great to perform it again as it’s a lovely arrangement.
Exit of the Bride and Groom
Aaaron and Rachel left their wedding ceremony to the sound of Perfect by Ed Sheeran. This was a lovely ceremony and we both thoroughly enjoyed being part of Rachel and Aaron’s special day. Sometimes the simple weddings are the best and this one had a lovely karma about it. We wish them every happiness for their married life together.
