The Wedding
Emily and Daniel
King Arthur Hotel, The Gower, Wales
18 July 2021
This was the fourth attempt for Emily and Daniel to get married with Covid scuppering all the previous occasions. However, they finally made it and 18 July 2021 was to be their special day.
The venue was the King Arthur Hotel in the Gower. This was our first wedding at this venue and what a lovely place it is. Of course some fantastic weather helped but it was just so welcoming. Whilst the hotel and bar was really busy this didnt in any way detract from the intimacy of the wedding venue which is at the back of the hotel.
The Ceremony
Our first task of the day was to play for Emily and Daniel’s wedding ceremony. The bride arrived right on time along with her bridesmaids.
After the ceremony there was quite a gap as our next task was to play for their first dance. Having already been to the beach before the wedding (which was busy even at 10am!) we decided to stay at the hotel and sample their dinner menu. Grabbing a table outside in the sunshine, we passed away a few hours and can highly recommend the food (and gin) at King Arthur’s Hotel.
The First Dance
We were honoured to be asked to play for Emily and Daniel’s First Dance. At this point the rules in Wales still only permitted the wedding couple to dance. DJs and loud music / dancing was still not generally permitted under Welsh Covid Rules. Fortunately our Duo was permitted to play and we headed outside so that Emily and Daniel could dance together on the lawn.
As we were outside the cello needed a small amount of amplification, but we achieved this with a very simple set up and small speaker just to boost the cello sufficiently to carry across the lawn.
We really enjoyed playing for Emily and Daniel’s Wedding and we wish them every happiness in their married life together.
