Birthday Party at The Lakes by Yoo
For this particular event we were booked to play for a Birthday Party in one of the stunning houses at The Lakes by Yoo. Situated just outside Fairford in the Cotswolds this is a fabulous venue with even more fabulous views.
Setting up on the balcony, as you can see from the photo above, we were bathed in the October evening sunshine and before we had even tuned the cello, this was promising to be a very stylish event indeed.
Once we were ready to start our host kindly insisted that we would like a glass of wine – well how could we refuse! One of the best things about this ‘job’ is that we meet some incredibly lovely people and the family we were performing for tonight were no exception. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated with such respect all evening it was our absolute pleasure to be part of this very special occasion.
The Music
Generally when we are playing for private parties the vibe is most likely to be quite chilled and relaxed. This was certainly the case here so we picked a selection of songs from both our contemporary and classical playlists. As the evening went on we then took a few requests from the birthday girl – John Denver and Abba proved to be extremely popular.
We played for around a couple of hours whilst guests enjoyed Champagne on the balcony looking out over the lake. This was definitely an extremely stylish birthday party and once we had finished our set, the guests retired indoors for dinner which was being prepared by a professional chef.
