Being based in the Cotswolds, JAM Duo (Cello and Piano Musicians for weddings) are always delighted to take on local weddings. Today’s wedding was a Drinks Reception for Amy and Seb in the lovely surroundings of Bailbrook House Hotel just on the outskirts of Bath.

Amy the bride had booked JAM Duo a couple of months before. In her own words, she had ‘eloped’ with Seb, her now husband, back in June due to Covid. The actual wedding was a private ceremony at a lovely hotel in Scotland, certainly judging by the photographs we saw. The event in Bath was therefore a Drinks Reception and Dinner for friends and family.
Music for a Wedding Drinks Reception
We arrived at Bailbrook House around 4.30pm with a view to playing from 5pm as guests arrived for drinks and canapés. Meeting with the wedding planner at Bailbrook we soon realised this was going to be a very well organised event. The planners knew exactly what was going on, just where we needed to be and within moments we had been shown to the room and told where to set up.
In fact it was all so efficient, there was time to procure a rather pleasing Gin Cocktail from the bar before we started playing!
Heading back into the reception room, we found the final touches being put onto a rather fabulous looking wedding cake and then settled down to play as guests arrived.
Keeping Music Organised
Amy had been quite specific in her music choices for the drinks reception and so Jules and Anne-Marie had complied playlists on their iPads. This we find is the best way to keep music organised and ensures we have exactly the right set list ready to play. There is no faffing around with paper copies or trying to turn pages / keep things on music stand. Slick and Professional is always the order of the day with JAM Duo.
