Weddings take us all over the UK and also mean we get to meet lots of different and interesting people. Today’s wedding meant a trip to Forty Hall near Enfield in North London for the delightful wedding of Elika and Lincoln.
Wedding date – 10 June 2022
The venue for today’s wedding was extremely impressive and it was also a lovely hot summers day which was ideal for the outdoor wedding ceremony which had been setup.
We were asked to set up at the front of the ceremony area which although in the sunshine did give us a great view of the two ceremonies. Firstly there was the standard English Civil Ceremony which was conducted by a registrar from the local council offices. This was then immediately followed by a traditional Prussian Ceremony.
Part way through the second ceremony of the day, we had arranged (secretly) with Lincoln for him to use our piano as he wanted to sing a song to his beautiful new wife. The song he had chosen was Nick Cave ‘Into my Arms’.
Lincoln sang incredibly well. This is the first time a groom has sung to his new wife but we are always more than happy to accommodate and facilitate any music making which goes on at weddings. It was no trouble at all to set up a microphone connected to our adaptable Bose Speaker – this also turned out to be useful for the celebrant in the second ceremony!
After the ceremonies, we then carried on playing for a couple of hours for the outdoor Drinks Reception.
JAM Duo at Your Wedding
Regardless of location, JAM Duo are a Cello and Piano Duo who play for weddings all over the UK. When it comes to outdoor ceremonies our digital piano and Electric Cello really do come into their own. Connected up to a small Bose PA system the tone of both instruments almost exactly replicates the acoustic versions. The big advantage is that we can set any level to suit the surroundings. When you are outside, acoustic instruments, lovely as they are, simply aren’t loud enough, even when the requirement is just background music.
