Hyde Bank Farm has been developed by the Blackhurst family. Set within the beautiful Cheshire countryside, this farm provides the perfect setting for a spectacular wedding. This is exactly how we found today’s wedding.
Arriving at the venue an hour or so ahead of the ceremony start time is our usual aim. Today we were slightly earlier, but no matter because we had to unload and set up our Black Gloss Piano Shell.

The Wedding Ceremony
Starting upstairs our first job was to provide music for the wedding ceremony. This presented a slight challenge as we couldn’t actually get our piano shell up the stairs to the ceremony room as they were extremely narrow and turned a sharp corner. Whilst this is the first time we have been defeated by a building it is always a risk as the piano shell doesn’t come apart!
On the plus side this gave us plenty of time to set up the shell in the bar area so we were ready to provide music for the wedding drinks reception and meal which would follow later.
The Bridal entrance featured 2 songs seamlessly blended together – The Bridesmaids came into ‘A Thousand Years’ which then seamlessly merged with ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ for the entrance of the Bride and her Father.
The Wedding Drinks Reception and Meal
Relocating downstairs with our instruments we had set up in the corner of the bar area. This placed us suitably so we could perform for both the drinks reception and the meal without further changes. For the couple this also meant the music would be seamless without any more breaks for us to move around – albeit when we move we can continue to provide music through our speaker so there is no ‘downtime’ as such.
Hyde Bank Farm is a lovely venue and one which we really enjoyed playing in. However, today the weather was not kind enough to allow people outside and so the bar area was quite full – this is where our electric cello through the PA comes into its own. Whilst we are not there to perform as such, even background music needs to be heard!
Hyde Bank Farm
One of the many enjoyable parts of our job is finding some lovely wedding venues all across the country. Hyde Bank Farm is one of those hidden gems. Quite a small venue in some ways, but it just seemed to have everything just right. We were greeted on arrival by the owners who instantly made us welcome and showed us everything we needed to know for the day.
The buildings on the farm date back to 1655 and were once home to Ann Hyde who went on to marry James II, King of England. The charming Grade 2 listed sandstone barn has been lovingly converted and furnished to a high quality and is home to the wedding suite. With oak beams and stonewalls the Ann Hyde Suite is overflowing with character.
