Today we headed over the bridge into Wales only to end up back in Gloucestershire at Clearwell Castle. Whilst we have been to open days here this was our first wedding at the Castle and as we expected it did not disappoint on any level.

Our brief today was to provide music for the Wedding Ceremony, Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast. On our brochure this is otherwise known as Option 3 and is probably our most popular package.

The Ceremony

Setting up initially in the ceremony room we noticed, by the number of chairs, this was going to be quite a large wedding.

The Music

Music prior to the ceremony:

We had been asked to play for around 30 minutes before the ceremony whilst the guests were seated. The couple were very specific about their music choices and gave us a list of songs for this point:

Nuvole Bianche Einaudi
I Giorni Einaudi
O Mio Babbino Caro Puccini
Maestro Hanz Zimmer
I’ve been waiting for you Abba
Amillion dreams Greatest Showman
And this is my beloved/The mission (mash up)
Ocean of dreams
Marry you Bruno Mars
Photograph Ed Sheran
Time Hanz Zimmer

It was then time for the entrance of the bride which featured one of our blends of two songs. The first song was for the entrance of the three bridesmaids which was then seamlessly transitioned into a second song for Georgia’s grand entrance.

Bridal Entrance
I get to love you (Ruelle) blended into She (Elvis Costello)

Signing
Songbird Fleetwood Mac
One day like this Elbow
Joker and the Queen Ed Sheeran

Exit
Love Story Taylor Swift

The Reception

After the ceremony we moved out into the hall to provide music during the drinks reception.

Bride and Groom
Georgia and Niall

Georgia and Niall had chosen a range of music for the drinks reception asking us to start with more formal pieces and then moving onto TV themes and similar more upbeat. That said, we were also under instruction NOT to play Canon in D! Which is fine – we think it is extremely important for couples to have complete freedom of choice when it comes to the music for their day. Whilst we can just play a selection of suitable music a lot of people do like to choose the songs – or indeed tell us what songs / pieces they don’t want to hear! That’s fine too!

Today the list provided was:

Sweet Disposition
She’s the one Robbie Williams
Jurassic Park Theme
Strage from Bridgerton
Married for life (UP)
Piano solo portugesue theme (Love Actually)
Disney
You’ve got a friend
million dreams
come what may
vesper theme
la vie en rose
perfect day
feeling good nina simone
At last (eta James)
Come what may
i’m kissing you (des’ree)
Marry you (Bruno Mars)
All the small things (JL Xmas advert)
Amazing Day (Coldplay)
Chandelier (Sia)
Dancing in the moonlight
Everglow (Coldplay)
Halo
River flows in you
I will follow you into the dark (Death cab for cutie)
In my life (the Beatles)
Now we are free (Hans Zimmer)
Perfect (Ed Sheeran)
rule the world (take that)
Africa (toto)
dance monkey
signed sealed delivered (Stevie wonder)
together in electric dreams

A lot of these tracks you can hear on our listen page – but this is not a repertoire list as such, simply some of the tracks we have got around to making a studio recording of. There are currently around 200 tracks on there with more being added on a weekly basis.

The Meal

For the wedding breakfast we moved back into the room which had been used for the ceremony which was now suitably arranged in tables of 8 for dinner. We were given a position on the stage at the far end from where to perform.

For the meal we had been given a shorter list of songs and asked to play music which was similarly themed – again this is absolutely not a problem.

Despacito Luis Fonsi
Blackbird
Sittin’ on the dock of the bay Otis Redding
Love song, Sweetest Devotion, Skyfall, Adele
Eidelwiss (Rogers and Hammerstein)
Lets go home together Ella Henderson
Stand by me Ben E. King
2002 Anne-Marie
Amelie Theme Yann Tierson
This years Love Christian Reindl and Jess Thristan

We really enjoyed being part of Georgia and Niall’s wedding day and we wish them every happiness in their future married life together. It was also an absolute pleasure to play at Clearwell Castle – the staff were very attentive and on hand to look after us and answer any questions we had with no fuss whatsoever. A thoroughly enjoyable day.
