We absolutely love playing for weddings in Scotland and so only a few weeks after our last trip North of the border we were once again off to bonny Scotland. This time it was for the stunning wedding of Nicole and David at the Macdonald Crutherland House and Spa in East Kilbride.
En route up to Scotland we found a bit of time to stop off in the Lake District and went for a drink in Pooley Bridge overlooking Ullswater. Well we figured it would be rude not to pass the lakes without at least having a quick look at one…!
From there it was just a short trip to the wedding venue just South of Glasgow.
Crutherland House & Spa is framed by mature trees within its own lovely grounds, surrounded by nearly 40 acres of tranquil, unspoiled countryside – yet this 18th century manor house in East Kilbride is only 30 minutes’ drive from Glasgow city centre.
The Wedding Ceremony
Starting with the ceremony we first of all met up with Rebecca the wedding planner who was really helpful in telling us where we needed to set up for the duration of the day.
Our position for the ceremony was at the back of the ceremony room which gave us a great view of the bridal entrance and the beautiful ceremony which followed.
We had some lovely music chosen by Nicole and David to play for their ceremony which included:
Pre Ceremony
Africa – Toto
As it was – Harry Styles
Starlight – Muse
Accidentally in love – Shrek
Love Story – Taylor Swift
Bridal Entrance
A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
Signing
Marry you – Bruno Mars
Best day of my life – American Authors *not on the website
Exit
You Make My Dreams (Come True) – Daryl Hall & John Oates
From there it was just a short distance out into the main foyer for the drinks reception
Drinks Reception and Meal
After the ceremony we were providing music for the Drinks Reception and Wedding Breakfast. Fortunately the layout of the Crutherland Suite meant there was very little moving around and this is always slightly easier with our Piano Shell.
Whilst our piano shell takes a lot of initial setting up which includes building it on site and carrying from the car, it does have the advantage that once built everything cabling wise is contained within it. As such it is then a little easier and quicker when it comes to moving around the venue.
Some of the music which we played during the reception included:
Beautiful Girls – Sean Kingston
Dancing in the Moonlight – Top Loader
Dance Monkey
Girls like you – Maroon 5
Mr Brightside – The Killers
Sweet Disposition – Temper trap
Your song – Elton John
Can you feel the love tonight – Elton John
I’m Gonna be – The Proclaimers
Love on top – Beyonce
Sugar – Maroon 5
Still in to you – Paramore
It’s worth noting that a number of these songs are not currently on our listen page – but no matter we can play anything. The only restriction is if the music score is available or whether there is a copyright restriction in place. Aside of that if we can find the music or it is available to be arranged by Jules then we can play any songs you like!
We really enjoyed being part of Nicole and David’s wedding. It’s going to be a little while before we are back in Scotland so in the meantime if anyone is looking for musicians North of the border then we would really love to hear from you.
We wish Nicole and David every happiness in their future married life together.
