Today was a two venue wedding for Colin and Abi, starting with a church ceremony in Tedburn St Mary, Devon.
Allowing plenty of time to navigate the M5 on a Saturday morning we in fact arrived at the church nearly 2 hours ahead of the ceremony. But this is no bad thing as we would rather be set up ready ahead of time than running late!!
Tedburn St Mary is a small village located in the Devon area of England. With a population of around 1,000 people, Tedburn St Mary is home to some stunning scenery and rolling hills that make it an ideal destination for tourists looking to explore the English countryside. The village is home to a number of facilities such as shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as a local church, which contributes to its welcoming nature.
As we arrived we met Colin outside the church and confirmed where we would be setting up.
The Church Ceremony
Setting up to the left of the chancel step we had a good view to see both the entrance and signing. With church weddings it’s always wise to check with the vicar how they are going to run the service especially in terms of our cues to provide music for the bridal entrance and couple exit.
Music for the ceremony
We were playing all the music for today’s ceremony with the exception of the hymns which the local church organist was playing.
Bridal Entrance
A thousand years (piano guys)
Signing
Songbird – fleetwood mac
Can’t help falling in love (Elvis)
Exit
All you need is love by the beetles
As well as key music for the service we also played a selection of classical music and love songs for around half an hour before the service as the guests were gathering.
After the ceremony and whilst photos were being taken we then made a swift exit so we could get to the venue for the rest of the celebrations.
Drinks Reception
We had also been booked to provide music for Abi and Colin’s outdoor drinks reception at Pynes House in Devon which is a short drive for the Church of St Marys.
In terms of music for the drinks reception Abi and Colin had asked us to play a selection of happy upbeat tunes as well as theme songs and movie soundtracks. Their suggestions included:
Married life from Up
Jurassic park theme tune
Friends – I’ll be there for you
A million dreams – greatest showman
Shallow –
We then continued with similar songs along the lines of those they had suggested and played for a couple of hours on the terrace whilst their guests enjoyed drinks and canapés.
We really enjoyed being a part of Abi and Colin’s fabulous wedding and we took our leave just as they and their guests were being called into the wedding breakfast. We wish Abi and Colin every happiness as they embark on their married life together.
