Today we returned to the delightful Devon venue of Deer Park Country House just on the edge of Honiton for the civil ceremony of Joanne and David. We love playing for weddings at Deer Park and we have always found the staff to be super welcoming and attentive to us even though we are mere daytime wedding musicians!

The Wedding Ceremony
Today’s ceremony was not scheduled to start until 3.30pm and so we had plenty of time to get down to Devon. As it was we still arrived with a couple of hours to spare. This is no bad thing and just means we can be more relaxed as we set up. Sophia Gilbert the wedding planner is always lovely to us and she kindly made us coffee while we were waiting.
We set up at the front of the ceremony room where Sophia had kindly set out a couple of chairs for us and awaited the arrival of the guests.
Music for the ceremony
With this being a civil ceremony, Joanne and David walked in together and there were no vows, just a couple of readings and of course the signing of the register. Nevertheless, there was still plenty of music for us to enjoy playing during the shorter than usual ceremony.

After the ceremony we relocated to one of the bar areas at Deer Park Country House and set up to provide music during the drinks reception.
Thanks to Kate Dixon for the above photo of us at the drinks reception.
A selection of songs we played for this part of the day included:

The Wedding Meal
The final part of our involvement in Joanne and David’s wedding celebrations was to provide music during their wedding breakfast which was taking place in the stunning Orangery.
We particularly liked the Fudge which was given out as favours to the guests from the Fudge Kitchen and the quote “Thanks for sweetening up our day!”
Our ‘playlist’ for the meal included:
Songbird (Fleetwood Mac / Eva Cassidy)
I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing (Aerosmith)
Amazed (Lonestar)
Here Comes The Sun (The Beatles)
Wonderwall (Oasis)
Stand By Me (Ben E King)
Someone You Loved (Lewis Capaldi)
We loved being back at Deer Park Country House for today’s celebration with Joanne and David and we wish them all the best for their future together.
