Today we were up in North Yorkshire at The Priests House, Barden Tower, another new venue for us.

Nestled in the shadow of the impressive ruins of Barden Tower, a Grade 1 listed building with superb views of the valley and surrounding hills, The Priests House has a fine reputation for excellent cuisine and service. Whether for an intimate and exclusive wedding, a private function, corporate event or a genuine medieval banquet this is a unique North Yorkshire venue.

Ceremony, Drinks, Meal and First Dance

Starting inside we set up on the stage for the ceremony using the venue black grand piano. With the candles in the centre, and our instruments to each side the look was quite Piano Guys ‘esque.

Pre Ceremony
Beneath you’re beautiful (Labrinth)
Chasing cars (snow patrol)
High (Lighthouse family)
How long will I love you (Ellie Goulding)
Just the way you are (Bruno Mars)
A thousand years (piano guys)

Bridal Entrance
Never enough (Greatest Showman)

Signing
Another Love (Tom Odell)
A million dreams (greatest showman)

Exit
All of me (John Legend)

Kathryn looked fabulous in her beautiful dress and it was our pleasure to provide music for the ceremony.

After the ceremony we swiftly relocated outside and set up on the lawn to provide music during the drinks reception. With no sound restrictions we were able to use our full set up which, even if we say it ourselves, does sound particularly fabulous at an outdoor event.

We played for just over an hour outside before returning into the ceremony room which had been transformed for the wedding breakfast. In most cases it takes us no more than about 15 minutes to relocate from one part of a venue to another. It is often quicker with our piano shell but there is no sense in bringing that when the venue already has its own grand piano!

However, once back in the meal room we did set up using our own keyboard and full setup for two reasons. Firstly it gives us much more control over the balance of the sound and as well as being loud it can also be quiet which means we can be the perfect volume for guests to chat over during the meal. There is a fine balance between making sure the music is part of the occasion versus being too imposing.

Here with our set up we hope we achieved the perfect balance of sound during the meal. After the meal we then remained in situe as we were playing ‘Stargazing’ for the first dance. However Kathryn and Harry liked the words as well so we opted to play the original song through our Bose Speaker System and then played along with a unique arrangement adding cello and piano to the original song.

It was an absolute pleasure to be part of Kathryn and Harry’s wedding in North Yorkshire and we wish them every happiness as they embark on their married future together.
