Our first visit to Allington Castle in Kent near to Maidstone was for the lovely wedding of Rose and Justin which took place in the main castle.

Ceremony Only

As we had been near Ipswich the previous day, we stayed over in a Premier Inn in West Malling prior to Rose and Justin’s ceremony. Whilst the hotel was adequate it didnt offer much in the way of dinner so we took a walk to the nearby village of West Malling where we found plenty of rather stylish eateries, ending up in The Swan. This was a most fine eatery and definitely somewhere we will return next time we are working in this part of the country.

The following morning, we decided to explore Maidstone ahead of the wedding ceremony. This turned out to be less pleasing and Maidstone is not a place we would recommend to anyone! We failed to find anywhere for breakfast or even coffee, so abandoned that idea and headed to the venue to set up for today’s wedding.

Rose and Justin had chosen some great music for their wedding which included:

Pre Ceremony
– ‘Sweet Child of Mine’ (Guns and Roses)
– ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ blending into ‘Canon in D’
– ‘Unchained Melody’ (Righteous Brothers)
– ‘All of Me’ (John Legend)
– ‘Your Song’ (Elton John) blending into ‘Come What May’ (Moulin Rouge)

Bridal Entrance
‘Tale as Old as Time’ (Beauty and the Beast)

Signing
‘Game of Thrones’ (Main Theme)
‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’ (The Verve)
Wonderwall’ (Oasis)
‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ (Aerosmith) please

Exit
‘Marry You’ (Bruno Mars)

On arrival we headed through the courtyard and found the ceremony room. Today we had been requested to play the venue Grand Piano along with the Electric Cello. This is not our preferred option but when there is a piano in the venue it is usually the Bride’s preference. Agreed it would look quite odd to set up a Nord Stage Piano next to a Steinway Grand and so, given that the instrument was in tune, and I was advised ‘Sir Robert’ had kindly given permission we used the piano which was in place in the ceremony room.

The ceremony space had been beautifully decorated with flowers and it was our absolute pleasure to provide music for Rose and Justin’s wedding ceremony. Sadly today our involvement was limited to the ceremony but we wish them both well as they embark on their married future together.
