In a break from our usual run of weddings today we did something a little different and found ourselves providing music for an afternoon tea at a Garden Centre near Burton on Trent.
Billed as Bridgerton Afternoon Tea with Live Entertainment (that was us!) this was a super event organised by the garden centre – Planters at Bretby. The afternoon tea included a selection of finger sandwiches, fruit and plain scones with jam and clotted cream, a selection of mini cakes along with unlimited tea and coffee.
The garden centre had created a really nice atmosphere for the afternoon tea in a sectioned off part of their restaurant and clearly made some effort with the Bridgerton theme which seemed to go down well with the clients.
Music from Bridgerton
As a cello and piano duo, we are ideally suited to Bridgerton vibes and have all the Bridgerton songs in our repertoire arranged for strings and piano. Technically of course in the television series the music is performed by the Vitamin String Quartet, but we love to arrange Bridgerton songs and it was great to be able to play such a selection of them for this afternoon tea.
We also enjoyed creating arrangements of some of the newer Bridgerton songs which included Ariana Grande’s “POV,” Imagine Dragons’ “Thunder,” Demi Lovato’s “Confident,” Coldplay’s “Yellow,” Swift’s “You Belong with Me,” and Ellie Goulding’s “Lights.”
Planters at Bretby often host unique events with live entertainment and it was a real privilege to be invited to provide music for this Bridgerton afternoon tea. Starting around 3pm we played two sets of approximately forty five minutes through to the end of service around 5pm.
We usually aim to play around 15 songs per set for these sort of events and from the feedback received at the end the ladies (and one gentleman) who attended the event really enjoyed our selection of Bridgerton inspired songs to accompany their afternoon tea. The scones and cakes also looked fabulous!
