Ceremony and Drinks Reception

Having driven up from Somerset after yesterday’s wedding, we had stayed overnight at a Premier Inn in Thirsk which was most of the way towards Ellingham for today’s wedding. At least from Somerset! Arriving in good time we were greeting at the door by one of the peacocks who reside at Ellingham Hall.

Starting inside for the wedding ceremony, as it was already quite chilly and extremely windy outside, we set up at the rear of the ceremony room with our piano shell and electric cello.

Pre Ceremony
Here Comes The Sun by The Beetles
L.O.V.E by Nat King Cole
You’re Still the One by Shania Twain
At Last by Etta James
Until I Found You by Steven Sanchez

Bridal Entrance
Lover by Taylor Swift (for the bridesmaids entrance)
blended with:
Can’t Help Falling In Love by Elvis (for the bride’s entrance)

Signing
Oceans (Where My Feet Fail) by Hillsong United
Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder

Exit
‘This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)’

For the exit song Rebecca and Jonathan had asked us to play along with the venue sound system. We are always happy to do this sort of thing although usually it is best if we play the song rather than the venue. Today for example the venue managed to play the exit song so quietly we couldn’t hear it for the purpose of playing along and had we done so we would have completely drowned out the lyrics which we assume the couple wanted to hear.

After the ceremony we moved into the adjacent lounge to set up so that guests could hear us across the two rooms which were being used for the drinks reception. Initially the guests were taken outside by the photographer for the confetti shot. With the wind all we saw was a lot of confetti blowing past the window at one point!!! But neverthlesss I’m sure that made for some great photos.

With the weather not idea, the guests were soon back in the lovely warmth of Ellingham Hall where drinks and canapés were served whilst we entertained with a selection of music chosen by the couple. Some of the songs included in our set at this point were:

Dancing in the Moonlight
Kiss Me by Sixpence None The Richer
I Say a Little Prayer by Aretha Franklin
Love Story by Taylor Swift
All The Small Things by Blink 182
Yellow by Coldplay
Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows
I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith
Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve
State of Grace by Taylor Swift
Crazy Little Thing Called Love by Queen
Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Ray
Never Enough (Greatest Showman)
Can You Feel The Love Tonight by Elton John
Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding
Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift
What Was I Made For by Billie Eilish
What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
Marry You by Bruno Mars
The U.S. Office Theme Tune
Jurassic Park Theme Tune
Pirates of the Caribbean “He’s a Pirate”

We really enjoyed being back at Ellingham Hall – it’s a very lovely venue and certainly somewhere to consider if you are looking for a wedding venue in North East England or even South West Scotland.

We also very much enjoyed being a part of Rebecca and Jonathan’s wedding day and wish them every happiness as they embark on their married life together as husband and wife.
