Today we made a welcome return to Llangoed Hall in Wales for the very lovely winter wedding of Hannah and Graham.
From reportedly being the site of the first Welsh parliament in 560AD to being lost in a card game centuries later, Llangoed Hall possesses a history as long as it is fascinating. Formerly known as Llangoed Castle, the hall is set in 17 acres of garden and parkland in the valley of the River Wye, nine miles west of the picturesque town of Hay-on-Wye. According to the late Sir Clough William Ellis, the celebrated Welsh Architect, there appears to have been a house on this site since 500 AD. It is said that the First Welsh Parliament was also held there.
Today it was the location for a very lovely wedding which we were delighted to play a small part in.

Ceremony and Drinks Reception
The Ceremony
We started in the ceremony room. This has the benefit of a reasonably well maintained Grand Piano which is suitable for us to use. It is far from perfect but in a small room it can be made to blend well with our electric cello and is ideal for music during the ceremony.
The added benefit is that we can then set up our Stage Piano and PA system in the adjacent room and be ready to seamlessly carry on providing music during the drinks reception without having to relocate any kit.
Music during the ceremony
Hannah and Graham had chosen some lovely music for their ceremony a couple of songs which were new to us and great fun to arrange and play:
Pre Ceremony
The Real Thing – Tony Di Bart
At Last- Etta James
17 Going Under- Sam Fender
Heaven- Bryan Adams
I Don’t want to miss a thing- Aerosmith
Bridal Entrance
Tonight, tonight – The smashing pumpkins
Signing
Set you free- NTrance ( during the act
Can’t fight this feeling anymore- REO speedwagon
Exit
Blinding Lights-The Weeknd
The Reception
After the ceremony we swiftly relocated to the room next door for the drinks reception. Having already set up our Nord Stage Piano and PA System it was the work of moments just to connect in the electric cello and start playing. In fact we were ready well before the confetti shot had concluded and so we were able to fill the room with music as the guests came back inside for drinks and canapés.
We really enjoy being a part of weddings at Llangoed Hall and today was no exception. Hannah and Graham are a lovely couple and it was our absolute pleasure to provide music for their wedding day. We wish them both every happiness as they embark on their married life together.
