Today we made a rare trip to Liverpool, or at least Prescot just on the outskirts of the city. Bizarrely of all the many places in the UK we have been to, Liverpool ranks quite low on our destination count for weddings. So today it was a privilege to be part of Tom and Abbie’s Wedding at Knowsley Hall in Prescot.

Abbie and Tom
Knowsley Hall, Prescot, Liverpool
Sunday 24 November 2024
Ceremony, Drinks and Meal

We started in the beautiful ceremony room for Abbie and Tom’s wedding ceremony. For this part of the day they had chosen some fabulous music which included:

Pre Ceremony
Sign Of The Times – Harry Styles
Married Life From Up – Piano Solo
Lovely – Billie Eilish & Khalid
What Was I Made For? – Billie Eilish
Can You Feel The Love Tonight – Elton John

Bridal Entrance
Tale as Old as Time (Beauty And The Beast) for the bridesmaids, blended with Can’t Help Falling In Love (Brooklyn Duo arrangement)

Signing
The Dying Light – Sam Fender
Shallow – Lady Gaga

Exit
At Last – Etta James

After the ceremony, we relocated into one of the many beautiful spaces at Knowsley Hall to provide music during the drinks reception. The guests were spaced out over quite a large area so we chose somewhere in the middle from where to setup with our Piano Shell and entertain the guests as they enjoyed champagne and canapés.

As the drinks reception was quite long we had plenty of time to play a varied set which included:

Love Me Like You Do – Ellie Goulding
A Thousand Years
Dancing On My Own
A Whole New World
Baby I’m Yours – Arctic Monkeys
Chandelier – Sia
Dance Monkey – Tones and I
All You Need Is Love – The Beatles
Christmas Is All Around (Love Actually)
You’ll Never Walk Alone
My Way – Frank Sinatra
Theme from New York New York – Frank Sinatra
A Sky Full Of Stars – Coldplay
Rewrite The Stars

It was then time to relocate again for the wedding meal. Here we had slightly less room, but nevertheless we can fit into virtually any space if we have to. It was also quite dark in the corner we were allocated. But again, no problem, one advantage of using iPads is the music is always lit up. Being professional musicians who do this on a daily basis, it’s easy enough to play our instruments in low lighting.

During the meal we had a different set to provide a balance of music for the guests and music for this part of the day included:

Brown Eyed Girl – Van Morrison (Bride/Groom entrance)

Until I Found You – Stephen Sanchez
Real Love – Tom Odell
Vincent – Don McLean
Perfect – Ed Sheeran
Feeling Good – Nina Simone
The One – Kodaline
What A Wonderful World
Video Games – Lana Del Rey
All Of Me – John Legend
Bohemian Rhapsody – Queen
Landslide – Fleetwood Mac
The Scientist – Coldplay

As there was a specified piece for the bride and groom to enter the room we had to ensure we were in place ready to play. This would have been seamless had the venue either stuck to the original times they confirmed with us before the ceremony or indeed told us they were moving the meal 30 minutes earlier! Nevertheless we found a way to carefully negotiate through the guests to ensure we were ready in time for the couple’s entrance into the meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed being a small part of Abbie and Tom’s wedding and we wish them every happiness as they embark on their married future together as husband and wife.
