We have been to Wales quite a fair few times this year for weddings and this was a lovely return visit to Plas Dinam Country House in Central Wales.

Ceremony, Drinks and Meal

Whilst we have been to Plas Dinam quite a few times now, this was our first winter wedding there and therefore also our first indoor ceremony. We found the ceremony room had a grand piano, but as with so many venue pianos it was sadly not in good order and so we elected to set up with our Nord stage piano just behind the music desk of the piano. This is a setup which works well in venues where the piano is prominent but ultimately not useable.

Music for the Ceremony

The music for the ceremony was very much in the realms of classical music. This gave us a god chance to play some repertoire which we don’t often get asked for which was a great pleasure for us.

Pre Ceremony
Claude Debussy Clair de Lune
Elgar Salut d Amour
Lakme The Flower Duet
Pachelbel Canon in D
Chopin Nocturne op.9 No. 2

Bridal Entrance
The heart asks pleasure first Michael Nyman

Signing
Camille Saint-Saens The Swan

Exit
Bizet Carmen Habanera

Jules particularly enjoyed playing the bridal entrance even if that particular piece is a little challenging with 3 against 2 rhythmically!

With the meal being in the room adjacent to the ceremony and the drinks being loosely based in the lounge area we moved to a convenient space where we could provide music for both parts of the reception without further moving around.

For the drinks reception we continued with classical music at the request of the couple but then, again following information from our online client form, we moved to a more jazzy vibe for the wedding breakfast.

We really enjoyed being a part of Emma and Mark’s wedding and we wish them every happiness as they embark on their married future together.
