A new venue for us and another trip across the Price of Wales Bridge. Today’s venue was the delightful St Pierre Golf and Country Club just on the edge of Chepstow in South Wales.

Ceremony Drinks and Meal

South Wales is not far from our home in the Cotswolds and so we arrived with plenty of time to spare for today’s wedding. This gave us the chance to scout out the various locations we would need to play at during today’s wedding.

Our first set up was for the ceremony in the beautiful ceremony room at St Pierre Golf and Country Club. Music for the ceremony included:

Pre Ceremony
Every breath you take – the police
Can you feel the love tonight – lion king
At last – Etta James
A million dreams – pink/greatest showmen
What was I made for –

Bridal Entrance
Blend of 2 songs –
Bridesmaids – Part of your world (little mermaid)
Bride entrance – Kiss the girl (little mermaid)

Signing
Nina Simone – feeling good
Toto – Africa

Exit
Married life – Up

After the ceremony we relocated to the main foyer for the drinks reception. Whilst quite a distance, this was made easier and quicker because we had the piano shell already built. Whilst the piano shell takes more effort to build initially it does help when we are moving around. Despite the foyer being a couple of minutes walk from the ceremony room we were back ready and playing in just under ten minutes.

Usually we reckon on being able to move in the time it takes for the guests and the couple to do the confetti shot.

The Wedding Meal

After the short drinks reception we then returned to the ceremony room which had been turned around for the wedding breakfast. This was billed as a carvery. However it was a carvery with a difference. It turned out that for each table one of the men was asked to sit at the head, don a chefs hat and apron and take charge of carving the joint and serving the other guests on the table.

We see all sorts of things at weddings but this was a first. What a splendid idea for making the meal more engaging – and also quite possibly sped up service!

We really enjoyed being a part of Danielle and Jack’s wedding and we wish them both every happiness as they embark on their married future together.
