Today, John Lewis launched their Christmas Advert for 2021 which is entitled Unexpected Guest
Lola Young, 20, joins previous music superstars including Ellie Goulding, Lily Allen and Tom Odell in contributing to the retailer’s annual festive campaign.
Her cover of Together In Electric Dreams, originally released by Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder in 1984, accompanies Unexpected Guest – a two-minute tale of a young alien experiencing their first Christmas on Earth, complete with mince pies and novelty jumpers.

This years John Lewis advert has hit our screens about 2 weeks earlier than usual. It would seem that John Lewis are hoping to give people a warm, fuzzy feeling of Christmas that was so missed last year when the UK was under Lockdown.
The Song
Way back in 1984, Together in Electric Dreams by The Human League was the only song from the brief partnership of Oakey and Moroder that achieved commercial success.

As it happens, we were recently asked to record a sample of Together in Electric Dreams one of our wedding couples who have booked us for next year. Hearing the song featuring on this years Advert for John Lewis gave us further inspiration to record our own version. Whilst we might not have a Christmas advert to accompany it, we hereby present you with JAM Duo’s unique version for Cello and Piano of ‘Together in Electric Dreams’.
