Today’s wedding was our first visit to the delightful venue which is Norwood Park just outside Southwell in Nottinghamshire. The first weddings held at Norwood Park were in Saxon times beneath the centuries-old Oak Trees that range across their vast grounds. Since the 1970s, weddings have moved into the house and onto the lawn.

With the temperatures soaring, the wedding was being held outside in the lovely gardens of Norwood Park. Whilst there was little shelter for the guests, we managed to find ourselves some shade under a tree to one side of the ceremony area.
Ceremony Music
Before the Ceremony, Georgia had chosen some lovely songs for us to play whilst the guests arrived and took their seats:

The bridal entrance was a new piece for us and Georgia had specifically requested the Brooklyn Duo arrangement and kindly bought us a copy of their original score.

For the signing we played Stevie Wonder’s Signed, Sealed, Delivered which is of course a very appropriate song for this moment. The exit of the bride and groom was Jackie Wilson – Your Love Keeps Lifting me Higher and Higher.
Wedding Drinks Reception
After the ceremony we moved to the shade of a tree nearer to the outdoor drinks reception. However as the weather got hotter, whilst we were happy under the tree, most of the guests had taken shelter indoors as there were a limited number of parasols available.
As a result we shortly moved indoors too and carried on playing in what is usually the indoor ceremony room. Fortunately, although we did also enlist help of some groomsmen, even with our piano shell it really doesn’t take very long for us to relocate to a different part of the venue. All told we were playing again within a few minutes.
