Blake Hall is only offered for exclusive use and is licensed for civil ceremonies either inside the beautifully converted Hay Barn or outside under the canopy of the old Saddlery. Reception drinks can be enjoyed outside on the pretty lawn and terraces between the barns, or inside in the spacious Hay Barn. This leaves the Essex Barn for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment.
The Ceremony
This was our location for Catherine and Andrew’s wedding in the beautiful county of Essex. We started in the Hay Barn for their ceremony and set up with our instruments on the balcony which gave us a great view down onto the ceremony.

Outdoor Drinks Reception
The weather was deceptive – in the areas of sun it was actually quite warm and so the drinks reception was held outside. Given the movement of the sun and therefore the available warm spaces we opted to set up in the doorway of the ceremony room which looked out onto the lawns where guests were enjoying drinks.
This gave us the chance to be providing music in the outdoor space whilst also not being too cold sat still in the shade for too long!
Cathy and Andrew had been quite specific with their music choices for the drinks reception and asked us to play a selection of music from the following artists:

They had also listed a number of songs and artists not to include. This is actually a great help to us. We don’t mind whether couples list all the songs they want or just give us a flavour. But we do think it’s important that our couples get to hear the music they like and equally we certainly don’t want to play songs they don’t like for whatever reason.
We really enjoyed Cathy and Andrew’s wedding and we wish them all the best for their married future together.
