Here we try to answer the most common questions which we get asked. If your question isnt answered below, please do get in touch with us either through our contact form or WhatsApp / Telephone on 07855 275353.

What Songs can we choose?

There are over 275 songs on our ‘listen‘ page to give you inspiration. However you are not limited to this. We can play anything you like. We will talk to you about your music choices well in advance of your wedding day and will ask you to complete our online music form around 6-8 weeks before your wedding where you can list the music you would like us to play.

Please just be aware that very occasionally we may find that copyright restrictions do not allow for public performances of some songs. In this instance, we will contact you to discuss alternatives.

JAM Duo can play any song(s) of your choice – just let us know when you fill out our client information form (around 30 days before your wedding) and we will arrange your song choices for cello and piano and perform for you. There is no additional charge for this – we love finding new repertoire!

How long do you perform for?

We will always agree a price to perform for your wedding or event in advance. Our most popular packages are defined on our current brochure (see link at the foot of the web page).

Within reason we do not put a time on these events, but as a guide we would expect a ceremony to be approximately 45 minutes, a drinks reception 90 minutes and a wedding meal 90 minutes. If you think your timings will be much in excess of this, please let us know at the time of booking.

For corporate events we will agree an approximate time with you.

Will your music be loud enough?

Yes! Our preferred set up is a Yamaha Electric Cello, Nord Stage Piano and Bose PA system. This can be used in almost any situation indoors or outside and will allow our music to be at a suitable volume no matter whether your wedding has 10 guests or 1000!

Can you work with venue sound limiters?

Yes we are often asked to comply with sound restrictions in venues. The beauty of our electric cello and Nord Stage Piano is that we can play at almost any volume. There is in fact more flexibility with that set up than with acoustic instruments!

What if our venue only allows acoustic instruments outside?

We have an acoustic (wooden) cello which is generally permitted in such situations. Our stage piano requires some form of amplification and so will not always be suitable for venues which do not allow amplified music outside.

However, because we can actually play quieter than acoustic instruments, most venues will make an exception.

If you are in any doubt please contact your venue – we are also very happy to speak to your venue to confirm any sound requirements prior to you confirming your booking.

Do you take breaks during your performance?

We try to ensure our performance is as continuous as possible. In most cases where we are providing music for ceremony and drinks we would not take a break beyond the gap required to move from your ceremony to the drinks reception or from the drinks to the meal.

If we are playing for longer and do take a break, we can arrange for our music to keep playing through our speaker if you wish.

Do you charge for travel?

We do not generally charge for travel anywhere within mainland UK. For weddings in Scotland we would request a minimum booking of Option 3 (Ceremony, Drinks and Meal). If your event is outside mainland UK then we would charge our usual brochure price plus travel and expenses at cost.

Can you perform outdoors?

Yes we can perform indoors or outdoors. The only restriction on playing outdoors is the weather. We do bring our own parasol to offer us and our instruments protection against the sun. In the event of bad weather (rain/sleet etc) we would need to perform undercover. Our instruments cannot get wet under any circumstances. As a guide however, generally speaking if your guests are happy to be outside then so are we!

Do you need electricity?

No! We bring our own portable power supply, which means we can set up anywhere indoors or outside and have no requirements for electricity. We have enough power to play all day without having to resort to electricity. Of course if there is an available supply of AC power we can connect to that too.

Do you carry Insurance?

JAM Duo is part of JAM Music Group Ltd. This is a UK based Limited Company which carries up to date Performing and Creative Arts Public Liability insurance to the value of £2,000,000. Please contact us if you need copies of our insurance documents. Our equipment is also fully PAT Tested – again certificates of conformity can be supplied upon request.

What happens if it snows?

If there is bad weather forecast for the day of your wedding or event, we will keep in close contact to ensure it is still going ahead as planned. Once confirmed as proceeding, we will make every effort possible to get there. In the extremely unlikely scenario that you can attend your wedding or event, but we are detained by bad weather, we will inform you at the earliest opportunity and provide a full refund.

How much Space do you need?

JAM Duo require a space approximately 2m x 2m for their performance. If we are bringing our piano shell then this increases to around 3m x 2m. Please contact us for more details.
